Maintenance
Since our motto is “functional art in the kitchen”, we want to make sure our boards were easy to use and maintain. These boards are intended for chopping fruits and vegetables; they can be used to cut up cooked meats, but are not intended for meat cleavers or raw meat. After use, run your board under water and dry it off. You may use light soap if desired. Once rinsed, you will notice the board basically dries itself. Make sure not to submerge it in water or keep the surface wet for an extended amount of time.
Once dry, the board is good to go! You do not need to re-oil on it, since the finish we use does not dry out. Our finish is called Good Stuff and it is an FDA approved, synthetic oil made specifically for butcher blocks.
Re-finishing
If your board ever gets damaged or too cut up, feel free to reach out via our contact form to set up a free re-finishing. We will gladly smooth out your board by planing, sanding the top layer, and putting it through the extensive finishing process again. It will return looking brand new! Depending on your location, you may be able to drop it off directly to us. Your board might need to be re-finished within 2-4 years of purchase - this would be determined based on how frequently you use your board.
